Reed resigns from LIV Golf to play the DP World Tour and pursue PGA Tour eligibility beginning Aug. 24, 2025, with potential play Sept. 17-20.
Overview
Patrick Reed announced in a post on X that he has resigned his LIV Golf membership, will play the DP World Tour for the rest of the year and is seeking reinstatement to the PGA Tour, the PGA Tour said.
The PGA Tour said in a memo that Reed did not qualify for the Returning Member Program and will be eligible to compete as a non-member beginning Aug. 24, 2025, a year from his last LIV appearance.
In a post on X, Reed said, "I'm a traditionalist at heart, and I was born to play on the PGA Tour," and added his decision came "after careful thought and consideration," his statement showed.
Reed's victory at the Dubai Desert Classic moved him to No. 2 in the DP World Tour standings and to No. 29 in the Official World Golf Ranking, and records show he has 12 professional wins across four tours.
The PGA Tour said Reed could play in the FedEx Cup Fall beginning with the Biltmore Championship Asheville Sept. 17-20 if he receives a sponsor exemption, but he would not be eligible for shares in the tour's Player Equity Program through 2030.
