Senator Duckworth Staffer Accused of Impersonating Attorney to Aid Deported Immigrant

Edward York, a staffer for Senator Tammy Duckworth, is accused of impersonating an attorney to facilitate the release of Jose Ismeal Ayuzo Sandoval, a repeatedly deported illegal immigrant.

York allegedly met Ayuzo at a facility to obtain his signature on a G-28 form, authorizing legal representation, and then falsely claimed attorney status to federal officers.

The Department of Homeland Security and ICE raised concerns as they could not verify York's attorney status, suspecting potential misuse of a law firm as cover.

Ayuzo Sandoval, who has a DUI conviction and multiple deportations, was the subject of the staffer's alleged misrepresentation to secure his release.

A Facebook post by Montgomery County Illinois Democrats brought the alleged impersonation to light, while Duckworth's office and ICE have not yet commented on the matter.
