Former Senator Ben Sasse Diagnosed with Terminal Pancreatic Cancer

Former Nebraska Senator Ben Sasse announced his terminal stage-four pancreatic cancer diagnosis, revealing he expects to die soon, bringing a somber end to a career marked by public service and academic leadership.

Sasse, 53, served as a Nebraska Senator from 2015 to 2023, known for his conservative stance and as a vocal critic of President Trump, notably voting to convict him after the January 6 Capitol riot.

He resigned from the Senate in 2023 to become the 13th president of the University of Florida, a move that followed a contentious approval process and a short tenure.

With an extensive academic background from Harvard, Oxford, and Yale, Sasse previously led Midland University and served under President George W. Bush, sharing a three-decade partnership with his wife and raising three children.

Pancreatic cancer, though rare, is highly lethal, accounting for 8% of U.S. cancer deaths with over 67,000 diagnoses annually, underscoring the severity of Sasse's condition.
