Overview
Lafayette Police arrested five people in connection with the Jan. 18 shooting at the home of Tippecanoe County Superior Court Judge Steven Meyer and his wife Kimberly Meyer, who were wounded, police said.
Prosecutors alleged in probable cause affidavits unsealed Friday that members of Phantom MC and the Almighty Vice Lord Nation coordinated the attack to derail a domestic-abuse trial that Moss was scheduled to face, according to court records.
Steven Meyer issued a statement thanking law enforcement and the community and saying he and his wife were improving, and Indiana Chief Justice Loretta Rush urged fellow judges to "remain vigilant" in their security, court and court spokeswoman said.
Police said three men — Thomas Moss, 43; Raylen Ferguson, 38; and Blake Smith, 32 — face attempted murder, conspiracy to commit murder, aggravated battery and related counts, while Amanda Milsap, 45, faces bribery and obstruction charges and Zenada Greer, 61, faces assisting a criminal and obstruction counts.
Prosecutors said they will seek gang and firearm enhancements that could increase penalties and the domestic-abuse trial assigned to Moss will be reassigned, with further court proceedings pending, according to prosecutors and court records.
